Mr. Gato

October 06, 2023

Instagram: @_EyeGato_

Eye Gato is a street artist from San Diego that identifies with the nature of cats. Images of the pyramids and the all-seeing eye are found in his pieces to create his persona Mr. Gato. The images... heavy eyes and a brooding stare. The eye has a representation in the pyramid as a reminder to be aware of your surroundings as our society moves towards a questionable dependance on our phones. Eye Gato has created a large body of work, stays active in his community and does everything from street art to gallery shows.

👁️"I started using the symbol of the eye to represent paying attention and being aware of your surroundings. Doing the street stuff, you're always looking around, you're always looking for a spot. I'm trying to catch everyone's eyes away from their cellphones. It's one of the epidemics, as useful as they are they are also not."🐈Mr. Gato on @methodmakers INTERVIEW
