SKORE 79

October 18, 2023

Skore is a German artist/graffiti writer that started writing in 1993. During that time in his part of the world graffiti was scarce. After seeing the movie Beat Street, he and some friends decided to start a crew called The Horror Kids but that's not where his relationship with art began:

1. Was there art in your life before graffiti?

◼️"I was always into drawing since I could remember. I used to copy vinyl covers from Iron Maiden and Guns n Roses or super action Heroes. Especially Masters of the Universe and Marvel. Art classes in school were boring to me, but it helped me to develop the basics."◼️

2. Your illustrations are insane on walls and on paper. As a kid growing up did you have any favorite cartoons or shows that might have sparked your interest in art?

◼️"Oh yes, like I mentioned, Masters of the Universe, Marvel, DC and Image Comics and a lot more. Later I felt in love with the works of M.C. Esher with his fantastic perspectives and illusions. Another one was H.R. Giger the inventor of Alien."◼️

3. How do you stay motivated on your bad days? Are there other artists, sports, places you go, books or movies that inspire you to push through?

◼️"Well, it is not that easy to practice and produces every day. Sometimes I need a pause from everything, too. I live at the north coast, so I go often to the sea for relaxing and resetting. I think recharging the creativity battery’s is as much important, then doing art itself."◼️

4. Do you practice any other forms of art outside of graffiti like music, sculpting, etc.

◼️"Not art directly, but I love cooking. Especially Mediterranean food. Cooking is meditation for me."◼️

5.  Are there any tools or art supplies that you wish you knew about when you first started?

◼️"Oh yes off course. There are plenty. Alcohol markers and Bristol heavyweight paper. High quality canvases and proper airbrush pistols with good acrylic."◼️

6. Any advice for beginners?

◼️"Don’t waste so much time on social media and go out to write. Enjoy being outside and try to get up through developing and writing your name."◼️
